Washington High School seniors have a new scholarship opportunity this spring upon the establishment of an endowment through the Community Foundation of Washington County.

The Central Park Senior Center Scholarship will be awarded to college-bound Class of 2022 students based on their financial need. The endowment was founded by the members of the former Central Park Senior Center non-profit organization that was founded in 1999. The center was housed on the south side of the downtown square until it was recently closed and the organization ended. The remaining members’ wish was to take the money from their sale of the building and use it to establish college scholarships for needy and deserving WHS graduating seniors. Community Foundation Executive Director Millie Youngquist heard of their situation and connected with other community groups to make the donors’ wish a reality by investing in a permanent endowment fund. Youngquist encourages anyone who has ideas of helping non-profit causes in Washington County to contact her to see what is possible. You can find more information visit here.
