Positioning near the top of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference South Division was up for grabs in Wayland last night with the Danville boys’ basketball team invading town and holding off WACO 43-38.
Both teams went back and forth early with the score tied at 16-16 after one and the Warriors holding a slight 28-25 lead at half. An 11-4 Bear third quarter proved to be enough to come away with the league victory. Reece Oswald recorded much of the Warrior offense with 15 points to lead all scorers and Colton Leichty added eight.
Danville moved to 10-1 overall, 8-1 in the division, just behind New London’s 8-0 mark. WACO is 10-3, 8-3 in the conference, and they return to the court Thursday hosting Cardinal (8-4).
