Nights where the hoop looks as big as the ocean is what any shooter dreams of and it’s safe to say Tuesday was one of those nights for Washington’s Kasen Bailey. The senior splashed down a career high 39 points that helped push the Washington boys’ basketball team past Davis County 84-67 in a home non-conference bout last night.

As heard on KCII, the second game of a back-to-back showed no signs of fatigue for the senior, as he nailed four triples in the first half for 18 points at the break and the Demons led 41-33. The Mustangs’ (7-7) Dalton Reeves was active in the paint and kept the road squad around with 17 points in the first half. Washington buckled down in the third with a 23-14 quarter that helped stretch the lead in what eventually turned into the 17-point victory. Bailey hit three more from long range to finish seven of nine for the game. To go along with his eye-popping 39 points, the 6’2’’ guard also chipped in with five rebounds, two assists, and two blocks. He tells KCII Sports he wasn’t sure what was in the air last night. “I’m not sure what it was, I just try to play hard every night and props to my teammates for what they did. At halftime we were preaching the little things because in the first half they were getting a lot of rebounds and second chance points. When we got stops in the second half and pushed the ball up the floor that is when we started to separate from them.” The sniper duo of Bailey and Ethan Patterson combined for 61 points with Patterson getting hot in the second half as well and the junior finished with 22. Washington wins their sixth in a row to improve to 12-1 overall.

The Demon girls went on the road and lost to Keokuk (10-3) for the second time in a week with the final score being 63-22. Washington falls to 1-12 overall and 1-6 in the Southeast Conference. Both Demon squads get back on the court Friday against Mount Pleasant with KCII broadcasting the girls game.
