Residents of Riverside will have the opportunity to meet with the city council to get further details on the 3rd Street Project.
During their regular meeting Monday, the council set a date for a public hearing for the project at 6 p.m. Wednesday, February 2nd. City Administrator Christine Yancey says that letters will be sent to the homeowners that will be affected by the construction along with door hangers. In addition to tackling the 3rd Street project, the council would like to complete the smaller street projects on Washburn, Greene and Rose streets. Engineer’s estimate for the 3rd Street work came in at $1,283,183 and with the additional street projects, the total would be over $2,997,000. The work along 3rd Street would include elevation on the street for storm sewer and water services, the addition of a retaining wall and removal of trees along the street among other improvements. Yancey says that she is reviewing possible funding options as only a portion of the projects can be covered by the city’s reserve funds.
