The Hillcrest Academy Ravens travel to Columbus Junction tonight to meet the Wildcats in a Southeast Iowa Superconference doubleheader showdown of KCII area teams. The Raven girls come into the game with a 1-12 overall record, still looking for their first conference win after Tuesday’s 44-22 loss in Kalona to Louisa-Muscatine. On the season the Ravens score 28 per game and give up 50 points shooting 27% from the floor with 24 rebounds, four assists, six steals and 15 turnovers per game. Individual leader for Hillcrest is senior Esther Hughes at 14 points, six rebounds and two steals per game.
Columbus is 2-12 on the year, 1-9 in conference. They have been off since a 44-27 loss to Sigourney January 13th. On the year, the Wildcats score 28 per game, give up 50, shoot 26% from the floor, along with 25 rebounds, seven assists, 10 steals and 23 turnovers per night. Columbus individual leaders include Sera Vela with eight points, two assists and two steals per night along with Libby White’s six boards per contest. The Wildcats beat the Ravens in Kalona earlier this year 41-33.
The boys contest has Hillcrest entering with an 8-3 mark on the year after a 51-25 win against Louisa-Muscatine Tuesday in Kalona. The Ravens score 52 per game and give up 40, shooting 47% from the floor along with 23 boards, 14 assists, nine steals and 13 turnovers. Individual Raven leaders are Grant Bender at 20 points and six boards per night and Luke Schrock with three assists and two steals per game.
Columbus is 3-10 overall, their last game was a 64-32 loss to Sigourney January 13th. On the season, they score 37 points per game and give up 60, shooting 31% overall with 23 boards, seven assists, nine steals and 21 turnovers per game. Grant Watson scores 11 points per game to go with five rebounds. Hillcrest won this matchup in Kalona in Decmeber 74-37. Action starts tonight at Columbus High School with the girls game at 6p.m.
