It’s a non-conference doubleheader in Washington tonight when the Demon basketball teams welcome Ottumwa for Senior Night. 

The Demon girls sit at 1-13 overall after a hard fought 48-37 loss to Mount Pleasant on Friday. Alex Murphy led the team with 11 points and the junior averages 6.6 per game. The Bulldogs are 6-8 and third in the CIML-Metro standings with a 4-2 league mark. They are currently riding a four-game win streak and put the hammer down on Des Moines Hoover 68-12 on Friday. They only average 35 points as a team with Addison Ransom leading the charge with 8.4 a night. 

The No. 4 ranked Demon boys have won seven straight out of break with a 13-1 overall mark including 56-45 road victory over the Panthers on Friday. They have the top three point percentage in class 3A with a 37.8% clip from long range and their 198 free throws made also ranks first. Ethan Patterson puts up 18.1 points a game and Kasen Bailey is right behind with 16.1. Ottumwa is 4-8 and 3-3 in the CIML. They pulled out a victory against Des Moines Hoover 47-34. Adam Greiner is their top player averaging 17.3 points and 7.4 boards. 

The girls’ game gets started at 6:15 p.m. with the boys to follow in Washington. Senior Night festivities will take place in between varsity contests. Listen to all of the action on FM 106.1 KCII.
