The Mid-Prairie boys and girls basketball teams host the West Liberty Comets Monday night in a River Valley Conference makeup doubleheader. These games were originally scheduled for January 14th. The Golden Hawk girls come into play at 10-5, winners of four straight including a 54-35 win over Camanche on Friday. For the year, Mid-Prairie is scoring 49 points per game and giving up 40 while shooting 38% from the floor, with 30 rebounds, and 13 assists and steals. Individually, Maddie Nonnenmann is the top Golden Hawk scorer at 16 points per game. Amara Jones leads the Hawks with five rebounds, four assists and four steals per game along with 12 points.

West Liberty is 13-3 on the season and No. 8 in class 3A according to the latest poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. Their last game was also against Camanche, a 59-20 win on the road Saturday. The Comets score 55 a game and give up 35, shooting 36% with 30 rebounds, 10 assists, and 14 steals per night. Individually, Macy Daufeldt leads the Comets at 19 points and eight boards per game. Sailor Hall leads the guards with five assists and three steals per night. The Comets have beaten the Hawks seven straight times including a 61-38 victory in November of this year.

The Mid-Prairie boys are perfect on the year at 14-0 after a victory over No. 8 Camanche in Wellman Friday 51-46. The Hawks are ranked No. 6 in class 2A in the latest poll from the Iowa Associated Press. On the year, Mid-Prairie scores 65 per game and gives up 44, shooting 48% from the floor along with 30 rebounds, 14 assists, and nine steals per night. Individually, Carter Harmsen leads the way at 21 points and eight boards per game. Jack Pennington averages a team best four assists and two steals per night.

West Liberty is 3-12 on the season following a 63-55 loss to North Cedar on Friday. On the year, West Liberty scores 48 per game and gives up 64 shooting 36% along with 22 rebounds, nine assists and seven steals per game. Individual Comet leader is Caleb Wulf at 16 points, six rebounds, two steals and two assists per night. The Hawks have beaten the Comets 12 times in a row including a 66-20 win at West Liberty to open this season. Action starts tonight at 6p.m. at Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman.
