Southeast Iowa Super Conference play took place in Wapello on Friday with the Highland basketball teams splitting a doubleheader. 

The Highland girls picked up the season sweep of the Arrows (7-7) with a 57-17 rout. Every quarter was dominated by the Huskies with the lead being 30-9 at the half and a 17-4 third quarter that blew the game open. Highland out rebounded Wapello 43-26 and was plus 14 in the turnover margin while shooting 42% from the floor. Sarah Burton flirted with a triple-double collecting 20 points, 11 rebounds, and eight steals. Abbi Stransky managed 10 points and 12 boards. The Huskies improved to 7-9 overall and 6-6 in the SEISC. 

The Highland boys hung around for most of the game, but could never breakthrough in a 53-41 Indian (8-7) victory. It was 10-5 Wapello after the first, 25-17 at half, and 37-25 after three before an even fourth quarter. Chase Schultz kept the red and white around with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Wapello’s Maddox Griffin led all scorers with 28 points. The Huskies drop to 1-13 and 1-11 in the league.

Both Highland teams host Louisa-Muscatine tonight.
