The Kalona City Council discussed the need for additional speed hindrance devices during a recent work session.
City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh says the council considered speed bumps and illuminated stop signs as ways to help notify drivers to slow down and stop. He says that a particular area of concern has been the intersection of 6th Street and J Avenue as many drivers have driven through those stop signs. The council voiced that they would like to purchase lit stop signs for that intersection along with other longer streets in the city. The council will continue discussion and possibly take action during one of their regular meetings in February.
