The Washington Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors celebrated the ushering in of a new era for a local restaurant.
After 13 years of business, Unc & Neph’s located on West Madison Street was recently sold by original owner Dave Sorrell to Kim and Brian Coleman of Washington. The Chamber Ambassadors held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Colemans on Monday, and Kim tells KCII how their venture came to be, “Dave has been wanting to get out, his wife has been ill and so he needs to spend more time at home. And we’ve talked about it multiple times over the last five or six years and just recently my husband was just like, ‘Let’s just do it,’ to get him out and like I said we’re keeping everything the same. All the staff is the same and this place runs pretty good so we’re just going to keep everything the same.”
Kim adds that she intends to stay out from the kitchen and bar as day-to-day operations are entrusted to the existing management staff. She will handle other administrative tasks for the restaurant in addition to managing her family’s other business Coleman Construction which specializes in concrete work.
