A Brighton man and a Fairfield woman were arrested on drug charges following an investigation this month.
The Henry County Sheriff’s Office conducted a vehicle stop for a traffic violation at approximately 7:46 p.m. January 11th in the 2300 grid of Highway 34 near New London. Deputies were notified that the driver, 40-year-old Isaac Booker Sawyer, had a barred driving status . A second vehicle later arrived on scene and was driven by 25-year-old Haley Ann McDowell. After further investigation, a search was conducted on both vehicles. Items found included amounts of methamphetamine, marijuana, distribution materials and prescription pills. Sawyer was arrested for possession of a controlled substance third or subsequent offense, a class D felony, driving while barred, a serious misdemeanor, possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor, and cited for speeding and fraudulent use of registration. McDowell was arrested for unlawful possession of prescription drugs and a controlled substance and fifth degree theft, all serious misdemeanors.
