A home South Iowa Cedar League basketball doubleheader for Sigourney against English Valleys saw both schools walk away with a win on Tuesday. 

Up 10-6 after one, the Sigourney boys put the clamps on the game with a 22-4 second quarter and they cruised to a 58-33 beatdown of the Bears (10-7). The Savages had a big advantage off glass by winning the rebounding battle 46-24. Levi Crawford led the squad with 13 points, Ethan Shifflett recorded 12, and Bo Schmidt hauled in 14 boards. Sigourney improves to 10-7 overall and 7-6 in the SICL. 

The Bear girls (16-3) managed a season sweep of the Savages with a 21-10 EV lead after one that continued to get bigger in a 61-41 victory. Sigourney out rebounded their opponent 33-20, but was minus 15 in the turnover margin. Zoe Webb recorded 11 points, Carly Goodwin had 10, and Josephine Moore brought in 12 rebounds. The Savages drop to 9-9 overall and 6-7 in the league. 

The black and gold travel to Belle Plaine tonight.
