The Well Resource Center in Fairfield is one of 38 Iowa employers and organizations announced Thursday to receive Future Ready Iowa Employer Innovation Fund grants.

The Future Ready Iowa Employer Innovation Fund awards grants that can be used to cover the cost of training and education supplies and provide wrap-around services addressing other barriers some Iowans face when seeking skilled training. The Well received a $50,000 grant for their Well Works job training program. This is the latest expansion for the Fairfield location of an organization that also operates in Pella and Knoxville. They are working with local businesses Dexter Laundry and Airgas to help those who are unemployed and experiencing a lack of stability in their life to recover, overcome barriers and become independent by learning job skills in high demand occupations. Those participating in the program will receive formal credits, credentials in manufacturing and other workforce skills. In total, $1,408,882 was awarded with 3,542 people served across the 38 projects that received a grant. Future Ready Iowa has set a goal to see 70 percent of Iowa’s workforce receive education or training beyond high school by 2025.
