
Ahead of Saturday’s SEISC meet in Mediapolis, Highland closed out the dual season last night with a home quadrangular and Columbus Community/Winfield-Mt. Union had a heyday.
The Wildcats swept all three opponents by beating Cardinal 51-18, Highland 51-18, and Louisa-Muscatine 45-30. The blue and white were at the top of their game with a 16-3 record in contested matches including three wins coming from Ty Scorpil at 120 lbs (fall 3:52, 7-2 decision, fall 1:04), Lane Genkinger at 152 lbs (fall 1:21, fall 1:25, fall 5:46), and Ethan Palmer at 182 lbs (fall 3:19, 6-4 decision, fall 5:17). Wildcats with two victories included Lane Scorpil at 126 lbs and Dante Zuniga at 145 lbs. The team concludes the dual regular season with a 14-14 record.
The host Huskies had a strong outing by going 2-1 with their only loss coming to the Wildcats and wins coming against Cardinal 42-30 and L&M 40-21. They went 10-10 in contested matches with a pair of wins coming from Jack Peiffer at 126 lbs (fall :18, fall 1:48), Spencer Grout at 138 lbs (15-0 TF, fall 2:45), and Isaac Kleese at 182 lbs (fall 2:55, fall 1:19). Highland’s dual record is now 5-10 on the season.
