A North Liberty man has been placed on three years of probation for an operating while intoxicated offense in Washington County.
Court documents show that 29-year-old Scott Eugene Pitts pleaded guilty and was convicted of OWI, third or subsequent offense, a class D felony, with a charge dismissed for driving while barred, an aggravated misdemeanor. A five-year prison sentence was suspended and he must pay a $3,125 fine with a 15% surcharge, Category B restitution, and any pecuniary damages filed within 30 days of his sentencing. Pitts’ license was revoked for the November 15, 2021 incident in which he was seen repeatedly crossing the fog line while driving on County Road G36 near Tulip Avenue. When pulled over he presented the deputy with a barred drivers license and a preliminary breath test resulted in a .08% blood alcohol content level.
