It was round number two between Louisa County basketball rivals in Letts on Thursday with Louisa-Muscatine snatching bragging rights in a doubleheader sweep of Columbus Community. 

Fireworks have been destined in the boys’ bouts this year with the first basketball meeting and the football clash ending in Wildcat walkoff wins. There was plenty of drama again on Thursday, only this time L&M (2-13) was the team celebrating after an overtime win in a 33-27 final. The defensive struggle saw Columbus lead 12-9 at half and 17-14 after three, but the Falcons broke open for an 11-8 fourth quarter to force the extra period tied at 25-25. They made sure a Wildcat buzzer beater was not in store this go around, as they controlled overtime with an 8-2 score and they salvaged the season split with their rival. Columbus shot just 21% from the floor, but Tim Hills recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. The Wildcats dropped to 3-13 overall and 3-9 in the SEISC. 

The Wildcat girls lost every quarter and could never get right against L&M (9-3) in a 59-27 loss. The Falcons led 31-15 at half and broke it wide open with a 15-3 third. Libby White was in double figures for the blue and white with 11 points and Lily Coil added nine. Columbus dropped to 3-14 overall and 2-11 in the league.
