S-K Runs Away with SICL Crown, Five Capture Gold in Brooklyn

It was all black and gold Saturday in Brooklyn, as the Sigourney-Keota wrestling team had no issues snatching a South Iowa Cedar League tournament title by dominating the competition at BGM High School. 

The Savages crowned five champions to help rack up 237 points, 83 more points than second place Iowa Valley. Reanah Utterback picked up right where she left off in last week’s girls state tournament by placing first at 106 lbs, DJ Hammes reigned supreme at 132 lbs, Jack Clarahan won at 170 lbs, Cade Streigle at 195 lbs, and Conner Reed rounded out the gold medals at 220 lbs. Runner-up individuals included Evan Dawson at 152 lbs, Cade Molyneux at 160 lbs, and Aidan Schuster at 182 lbs. This marks the first SICL tournament championship for S-K since 2017 and this follows a conference dual title clinched last week.
