The unofficial start to postseason wrestling was over the weekend with Washington making a trip to Fairfield for the Southern Iowa Classic and the Demons finished third out of 12 teams. 

The tournament that features Southeast Conference schools, South Central Conference schools, and PCM saw Washington rack up 141.5 points while Fort Madison won it all with 228. One Demon stood on top of the podium with Colley Billingsly having three pin wins at 220 lbs in 4:55, 2:22, and 56 seconds. The team had three runner-up finishes including Aaron Boone at 113 lbs. The freshman moved to 43-1 after having a pair of falls and technical fall, before experiencing his first setback of the year to Albia’s Carter Anderson 2-1 in the championship match. Chase Greiner went 2-1 at 160 lbs to place second and Logan Frazer had the same showing at 182 lbs.
