The Mid-Prairie High School Jazz Band kicked off their 2022 season with a Division I rating in the Class 2A Iowa High School Music Association Jazz Band Festival last weekend in Burlington. 

Mid-Prairie Band Director David Kunz says they had not performed in Burlington for some time and that he is proud of their performance and how they handled the unique acoustics at the auditorium. Moving forward, the jazz band will be performing at the Tallcorn Jazz Festival at the University of Northern Iowa on Thursday, February 17th and at the Coe College Jazz Summit on Thursday, February 24th. Kunz added that they are looking forward to competing at the District Jazz Contest on March 5th to compete for a spot at the Iowa Jazz Championships in April.
