Revenge was on the minds of the WACO boys’ basketball team on Friday when they welcomed West Burlington for a second Southeast Iowa Super Conference bout and revenge is what they got.

The Falcons (8-8) got the best of WACO in December by a 14 point margin, but you wouldn’t know it after Friday when the Warriors showed no mercy in a 71-33 beatdown. A total of 11 different players scored, the team shot 62% from the floor, and they connected on 24 of 28 from the line. Hunter Hughes led the way with 18 points, Reece Oswald had 16, and Simeon Reichenbach added 10 with eight boards. This snapped a three game losing skid against West Burlington. WACO improved to 14-3 overall and 10-3 in the SEISC.

The Warrior girls got out to a forgettable start trailing 17-2 after one, slowly got it back to single digits by the third, but ran out of gas in a 48-30 Falcon (12-5) win. Ellah Kissell was the only WACO player in double figures with 10 points and Emma Wagler registered nine. The blue and white turned around to host Danville the next night and lost a heartbreaker 51-48 to the Bears (8-10). Kissell put up 22 points, Wagler had 10, Grace Coble had eight, and Katie Leichty had eight. WACO is now 8-10 overall and 5-9 in the conference.

Meeting number two against Danville will be tonight on the road for a girl/boy doubleheader.
