A Friday Southeast Iowa Superconference basketball doubleheader in Wapello belonged to Winfield-Mt. Union as the Wolves took a pair of victories. The WMU boys remained perfect in conference play with a 53-47 come-from-behind win. The Indians led 12-9 after the first and 25-17 at half, but the Wolves exploded out of the break, scoring 24 in the third to erase the deficit and take a 41-35 lead into the fourth. They did enough down the stretch to hold off Wapello. WMU outrebounded Wapello by 10 and dished out 13 assists. Cam Buffington went double double to lead the way for the Wolves with 18 points and 13 boards, Abram Edwards also got to double digits with 17 points. The win is the 10th in a row for the Wolves and moves their conference record to 13-0 and overall mark to 16-1. Wapello is 9-9 on the year.

The girls contest was a clinic with the Wolves winning 62-25. WMU was up 18-6 after the first quarter, then used a 19-4 run that spanned the entire second period to open up a 37-10 halftime lead. The Wolves put the game away in the third with an 18-8 run to lead 55-18 going to the fourth. The Wolves shot 70% from downtown and 55% from the floor, outrebounded the Arrows by 13, and dished out 18 assists. A trio got to double figures with Bradie Buffington scoring 13, Melina Oepping 12 and Keely Malone 11. The Wolves are now 12-2 in conference and 15-3 overall. Wapello falls to 9-9 on the year.
