The Riverside City Council approved the sale of a city rescue vehicle during a recent meeting.

A white 1998 GMC Suburban served as one of two rescue vehicles for the Riverside Fire Department. On January 6th, the council published a notice for the sale of the vehicle with bids closing on January 12th. The minimum bid was set at $4,500 with the city receiving a total of 12 offers. Steve Rodgers was awarded the truck with a bid of $7,777. Riverside Fire Chief Chad Smothers says the department had outgrown the Suburban and no longer required it. He adds that the department also donated an older ambulance to Washington County Ambulance towards the end of 2019. Moving forward, the fire department will compile all supplies from their previous trucks into their 2020 Chevy 3500 emergency response truck that was acquired in February of 2021.
