It was a tough day at the office for the WACO basketball teams on Tuesday when they made a trip to Danville and came home empty handed with a pair of losses.

The Warrior boys lost a five point game against the Bears (16-2, 12-2) last month and this one was even tighter with an extra four minutes needed to decide the winner. The Bears led 23-17 at half, but the Warriors cut it to 28-26 by the end of three, and tied it up 37-37 at the end of regulation. The defensive struggle continued into overtime with the Bears scoring the only basket to prevail 39-37. Colton Leichty led WACO with eight points and 11 rebounds while Chase Waterhouse also recorded eight points. They have established themselves in third place in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference South Division with a 10-4 league mark and 14-4 overall.

The girls’ game was all Danville (9-10, 8-7), as they built a 30-15 lead at half and a 32-17 close to the game led to a 62-32 victory for their second win against WACO in three days. Grace Coble led the road Warriors with 10 points and seven boards while Ellah Kissell had nine points and seven rebounds. They dropped to 8-11 overall and 5-10 in the division.

WACO returns home tonight against Central Lee.
