The Washington County Board of Supervisors approved annual law enforcement contracts for cities this week.
Sheriff Jared Schneider presented the contracts which he said have no changes except for the amount the cities will pay for his office’s services in fiscal year 2023, “That is using a formula that was created several years ago and using the contract law area of the sheriff’s office budget to determine the cost share to the cities.”
The contracts were approved at $28,017 for Ainsworth, $37,376 for Brighton, $13,635 for Crawfordsville, $224,898 for Kalona, $144,128 for Riverside, $108,991 for Wellman, and $9,335 for West Chester. Supervisor Jack Seward Jr. mentioned that West Chester’s contract uses half of their annual budget.
