A second candidate has emerged for the Republican nomination to represent Washington County at the state capitol.

Washington resident Heather Hora announced Thursday her campaign to run for the newly drawn House District 92. Hora was previously defeated by Democratic State Senator Kevin Kinney in 2018 for District 39. She will be running against Washington Mayor Jaron Rosien for the Republican nomination in the June 7th primary election. There are no incumbents running for the seat as Representative Jarad Klein announced he would not be seeking reelection. No candidates have announced their campaign for the Democratic nomination, and the candidate filing period for state offices in the primary is February 28th-March 18th. House District 92 will include all of Washington County and parts of rural Johnson County, including the cities of Washington, Kalona, Riverside, Wellman, Ainsworth, Crawfordsville, Brighton, West Chester, Lone Tree, and Hills.
