Platforms for the primary and general elections will be discussed tonight as Democrats and Republicans host midterm caucuses.
Washington County Democrats are hosting one in-person caucus at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Washington. Washington County Republicans are hosting six caucus sites. Ainsworth and Crawfordsville voting precincts will meet at the American Legion building in Crawfordsville, Brighton precinct will meet in the Gymnasium located at the Brighton Church of God, and the City of Washington’s four wards will meet in the second floor courtroom at the Washington County Courthouse. The Kalona and Richmond precincts will meet at Mid-Prairie East Elementary in Kalona, Riverside precinct will meet at Riverside City Hall, and the Wellman precinct will meet at Parkside Activities Center. The caucus is scheduled for both parties from 7-9 p.m. Candidate filing periods for Iowa’s June 7th primary election are February 28th-March 18th for state and federal offices, and March 7-25th for county offices.
