The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys basketball team has reached the final week of the regular season with their unblemished record still intact. They look to take another step toward a perfect year Tuesday when they host the Durant Wildcats at Tim Grady Gymnasium in River Valley Conference action. Mid-Prairie is 19-0 on the year, 17-0 in conference, after a 51-46 win at West Branch on Friday. Carter Harmsen and Ethan Kos led the way with 19 and 14 points in the win over the Bears. On the season the Hawks score 64 points per game, shooting 47% from the floor to go along with 30 rebounds, 14 assists, nine steals and 10 turnovers per game. Their shooting percentage, assist, steal, turnover and rebounding numbers all rank in the top 10 in 2A. Individually, Carter Harmsen leads the Hawks at 21 points and eight boards per night. Jack Pennington has a team best four assists per game.
Durant is 5-15 on the year, 4-14 in the RVC. They were last on the floor Thursday when they hosted Calamus-Wheatland and scored a 47-34 win. The Wildcats score 49 points per game shooting 38% from the floor, with 31 rebounds, 11 assists, six steals and 17 turnovers per game. Individually, Durant is led by Nolan DeLong with 16 points, eight boards and two steals per night. These two teams met in Durant January, 11th with Mid-Prairie taking an 81-55 win behind 22 points from Harmsen and 14 each from Alex Bean and Ethan Kos. Durant got 16 points from Garrett Hollenback, 12 from DeLong and 10 from Ben Orr. Mid-Prairie has won four straight in the series. Action starts tonight at 7:30 in Wellman.
