All-State nominations have been announced following the Iowa High School Speech Association’s large group state contest Saturday.
Mid-Prairie had two events receive all-state nominations for their one-act play “And the Giants Fell” and their improv group, The Triracials. Three Washington High School groups performed at Saturday’s state contest at Cedar Rapids-Kennedy High School. The “Smuckles” improv group of Bailey and Ally Rees and Quincy Griffis received a division I rating as well as the musical theater group of Bailey, Charlotte Windmill, Mikaila Mattheson, Claire Wubbena, Emma Kaye, Rita Du, and Molly Klinzman for their performance of “Into the Woods.” Ada Kendall, Isabella Lujan, and Kyann Miller received a Division II rating for their one-act play titled “Serial Killer Barbie.”
The large group event All-State Festival takes place Saturday, February 19th at Iowa State Center in Ames. The district individual event contest takes place the following Saturday on February 26th.
