An Iowa City woman was arrested on a Washington County warrant Wednesday.
The Washington County Communications Center received reports at approximately 4:24 a.m. that a Cedar Rapids police officer arrested 31-year-old Sadie Rae Smith. The criminal complaint states on January 19th, 2021, a business at 3184 Highway 22 in Riverside reported a suspicious vehicle parked in their temporary drop off location with drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle. A Washington County Sheriff’s deputy responded and identified Smith as the owner. Smith admitted to having drug paraphernalia in her vehicle. A search was conducted and deputies found seven bags of suspected methamphetamine and multiple digital scales and cell phones. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation later confirmed the substance was 14.78 grams of meth. A search warrant was later conducted on Smith’s cell phones. It was found that Smith had numerous conversations with individuals to distribute meth to them. Smith is charged with possession with intent to distribute over five grams of methamphetamine, a class B felony. Bond was set at $50,000 cash only and extradition arrangements will be made.
