The postseason is here and the class 1A regional tournament opens with an all-KCII area matchup in Winfield when the Lady Wolves host the Hillcrest Academy Ravens Thursday. Winfield-Mt. Union comes into the game with an overall record of 17-4, they finished as Southeast Iowa Superconference North Division runners-up with a 14-2 league mark. The Wolves were beaten Friday in the Superconference Shootout 43-41 by West Burlington. On the year, WMU scores 54 points per game, shooting 43% from the floor with 34 rebounds, 13 assists, 12 steals and 10 turnovers per night. Bradie Buffington is the top individual for the Lady Wolves at 15 points and 10 boards per night. Melina Oepping averages four steals and three assists per game.

Hillcrest Academy is 1-18 this season and finished 0-14 in the Superconference. They were beaten in Friday’s Shootout 47-43 by New London. On the year, the Ravens score 29 points per game and give up 49 with a 27% field goal percentage and 23 rebounds, four assists, five steals and 14 turnovers per game. Senior Esther Hughes leads the way for Hillcrest at 15 points six rebounds and two steals per night.

These teams met twice during the year with the Lady Wolves winning both, 67-21 in Winfield in November and 60-15 in Kalona in January.
