Community members in Winfield and the surrounding area will have the opportunity to see different collections from local residents during the second annual Winfield Collector’s Program.

Thanks to the work of the Winfield Historical Society, six collectors will be interacting with participants and showcasing their collections. This year’s collections include fishing lures from Charles Lorenson, Kachina dolls from Judy Rawson, arrowheads from Brian Anderson, turkeys from Dixie Klopfenstein, fighting roosters from Barb Long and animal hides from Tim Davis. Rawson also serves as the president of the Winfield Historical Society and Museum and she explains what makes this event unique, “Rather than talking about so much of our local history, this is about things that are collected that people have specific knowledge and interest in. It’s a good way to broaden your horizons, learn about something that you hadn’t thought about or maybe you do and you love it too. And you want to see what the other person has. It has a wide range of interest.”

The program will be held at 2 p.m. on February 27th  at the Winfield Community Veterans Building. A free-will donation will be accepted and all participants are encouraged to wear masks. Rawson says donations will go towards building improvements for the historical museum. For more information, visit here.
