An annual fundraiser is returning for the first time since 2020 with a change that should have mouths watering.
The Kiwanis AM’ers is hosting a pulled pork dinner and silent auction on Friday, February 18th from 4-7 p.m. in the Washington High School commons. The club traditionally hosted a spaghetti dinner in the past, and this year they’re busting out the smoker to offer pork sandwiches, sides and dessert. The public can peruse the silent auction in advance on the Kiwanis AM’ers Facebook page, and can beat the rush by choosing the “buy now” option.
Kiwanis member Jonathon Ward shares this is one of the club’s largest annual fundraisers that helps youth-focused projects including their Lonny’s Kids secret Santa program, “[We] provided food for people and gifts for people that weren’t able to purchase those for their kids. We donate to Camp Invention out at Kirkwood, we give scholarships to students throughout the year, school supplies for students. We do donate a lot to the school district and the YMCA. It helps run our blood drive later on and then also for the University of Iowa Health Center’s pediatric chaplains fund.”
Cost for the dinner is $12 for adults and $10 for those five to 12 years old. The club is also selling booklets of 10 tickets for $100. You can find a link to the silent auction and other details by visiting here.
