Over 100 COVID deaths continue to be confirmed weekly in Iowa, though the state has pared down its release of COVID data since the end of Governor Kim Reynolds’ public health disaster emergency proclamation this week.

The state decommissioned its coronavirus dashboard website and vaccinateiowa.gov, and is now publishing data on deaths and positive tests weekly through the Iowa Department of Public Health website. Iowa now has confirmed 8,948 deaths, while Washington County remains at 74. Regional and state COVID hospitalizations are not shown on the webpage, though it links to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services which shows weekly capacity and admissions data for hospitals. As of Thursday, Washington County Hospital and Clinics has eight hospital beds occupied of 17 total. For larger neighboring hospitals, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics has 796 beds occupied with 1.73% available, and 192 Intensive Care Unit beds occupied with 11.93% available. Mercy Hospital in Iowa City has 90 beds occupied and 24.37% available, and eight ICU beds filled with 33.33% available.

Long Term Care data is not shown on the IDPH website though it links to data available from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The number of Iowans fully vaccinated increased by two-tenths of a percentage point this week to 60.8%, and for Washington County the percentage increased by one-tenth of a point to 55.9%. Washington County Public Health has one walk-in clinic left this February for anyone five years and older to receive a free COVID-19 vaccine or booster shot. The clinic lasts from 1-5 p.m. Wednesday, February 23rd on the third floor of Federation Bank in Washington.
