Two Mid-Prairie speech groups will finish their season tomorrow at the All-State Large Group Speech Festival.

After receiving nominations following the state contest, the Mid-Prairie groups taking a trip to Ames are the one-act play “And the Giants Fell” and improv group “The Triracials.” Students participating in those groups include Jacob Carrillo, Liv Caskey, Isabel Forbes, Avery Frede, Harlie Gehling, Isadora Goode, Sam Harris, Sam Stacey, Gideon Sim, Alex Burnham, and Diego Ayala. Senior Diego Ayala shares his thoughts on finishing his high school group speech career at the All-State Festival, “It kind of shows how far we’ve made it and making it to All-State kind of shows how much we’ve improved along the way. I started speech sophomore year so I never thought of the day to actually make it to All-State, because I kind of did it with friends and none of us had any experience beforehand. And now senior year, I’ve made it to All-State with a group of friends again.”

Other groups making an appearance at the All-State Festival include Keota High School’s “Anna and August” for reader’s theater and Lone Tree’s Choral Reading of “But Wait, There’s More.” The opening ceremony will begin at 8 a.m. at Iowa State University with the improv group performing at 11:25 a.m. in the Scheman Building and the one act play performance at 1:35 p.m. at Fisher Theater. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased at the Scheman building.
