For the second time in three seasons, the Sigourney-Keota bowling team will be represented at state with Brock Alderson beating out the entire competition at Tuesday’s class 1A state qualifier at Rose Bowl in Muscatine.
The sophomore turned some heads by winning the meet with a three-game series score of 712, besting second place by 24 pins. He continued to improve throughout the day with a 226 first game, followed by a 229 second, and saving the best for last with a 257 third. Alderson becomes just the second Cobra ever to qualify for state with the first being Holden Huffman in 2020. The team finished fourth out of six with a final tally of 2,291 and Louisa-Muscatine won with 3,199. Other S-K scores included Landyn Greiner 532, Ty Krueger 513, Corren Freel 485, Seth Donald 434, and Gable Goff 413.
The Cobra girls finished second as a team with 2,272 pins compared to L&M making it a clean sweep with 2,853. Hannah Alderson led the way with a 473 series, Jayden Montgomery finished with 453, Samantha Bombei 373, Addison Richardson 354, and Sofya Lobzova 350.
Brock Alderson will compete at state on Tuesday at Maple Lanes Bowling Center in Waterloo.
