Nomination papers are now available for the Washington City Council Ward 1 seat.

A special election will be held on April 5th for the council term that ends in 2023. Those who are interested in running for the northwest ward of the city can pick up nomination papers at the Washington City Clerk’s Office or the Washington County Auditor’s Office, and the nomination petition filing deadline is March 11th. The petition must be accompanied by an affidavit of candidacy and should be filed with the Washington City Clerk. Absentee voting begins March 16th at the auditor’s office, and requests for a mailed absentee ballot must be received by the auditor’s office no later than 5 p.m. March 21st.
