Washington County continued its winning streak of the largest membership of the Iowa Pork Producers Association at the 2022 Iowa Pork Congress.

Washington County was awarded for most county members at a roster of 386. This is the 16th consecutive year they’ve earned the title. They were also recognized among 31 counties that increased membership over their goal level in 2021. Washington was one of 23 county groups that received the County Involvement Award for holding several local events to create an active presence in their communities last year. The awards are measured through a points system on activities to promote the pork industry which can include grillings, supporting youth activities, advertising in local papers, and other pork promotions. Washington and other counties that earned 2,000 or more points received $500 from the state pork association to help support their activities.
