A family-owned windmill service has found its new home in Fairfield.
The Fairfield Economic Development Association announced that Great Plains Windmill Service will be relocating from Kinross to the former ALCAST aluminum foundry building at 603 North 8th Street in Fairfield. The family-owned company is the largest windmill company in the nation and was originally founded in Kinross. They specialize in installation, servicing, painting, restorations and relocating farm and recreational windmills. More than half of the windmills are utilized for water, cattle operations, irrigation, wetland preservation and pond aeration. Improvements to the 118,000 square foot facility will begin immediately and they estimate the creation of a dozen or more jobs in the first year.
