The 2022 Iowa High School Speech Association season is about midway through with district individual event contests happening across the state Saturday.

Washington High School is sending 14 entries to the contest at Tri-County High School in Thornburg with students performing solo pieces in the categories of musical theatre, acting, interpretive reading-poetry, interpretive reading-prose, original oratory, storytelling, and review. The Demons performing are Bailey Rees, Quinn Wubbena, Rita Du, Keegan Colby, Kyann Miller, Mathew Osborn, Claire Wubbena, Molly Klinzman, and Charlotte Windmill under the direction of coaches John Petrzelka and AnnaMarie Ward. The state contest will follow on March 12th in Grinnell with the All-State Festival on March 28th at the University of Northern Iowa.
