The Louisa County Conservation Board is seeking public input on whether they should sell a section of wildlife area.

Baird Timber is a 18.5-acre wildlife area located in Wapello that was purchased in 1983 from the Baird family by the Louisa County Conservation Board. Since then, the oak-hickory dominated woodland area has been managed by Louisa County Conservation for residents to enjoy nature hiking, hunting and bird watching. After holding discussions at several recent meetings, Louisa County Conservation is seeking input from the public on whether they should sell the property and are welcoming residents to attend their meeting in person at the Louisa County Complex or via Zoom tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. The board notes that they will turn off the Zoom option after the first 30 minutes of the meeting. Comments can also be mailed to 12635 County Road G56, Suite 101, Wapello, IA 52653 or emailed to conservation@louisacountyia.gov. For more information, visit here.
