Residents of all ages are welcome to attend a variety of new and recurring in-person events this March at the Washington Public Library.

The Teen Manga Club will meet every Wednesday this month from 4-5 p.m. to watch Anime, read Manga, and learn more about Japanese culture. Those who enjoyed a couple ukulele programs last month can join a HUG, or Happy Ukelele Gathering Tuesday, March 8th at 2 p.m. Library Director Cary Ann Siegfried says this jam session is open to anyone, which she hopes will be a regular event, “There will probably be some learning so we’re encouraging people who maybe have had a ukulele lying around for awhile that they thought they were going to want to play but never really learned how to do it so if so this is a good time to bring it out and maybe get some on the fly lessons. But on the other hand I think we have some really experienced ukulele players who may be joining us too.”

The melodies continue on Thursday, March 10th for a noontime concert with Quentin Jones who will be performing covers of popular 1970s songs. Other upcoming events this month include Sticks and Strings at 6:30 p.m. Friday, a FriYAY Funday event from 1:30-2:30 p.m. on March 11th for kids in kindergarten through sixth grade, and the monthly Washington Writers’ Workshop at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 12th. You can hear about more March events at the library during Thursday’s Halcyon House Washington Page on air and at kciiradio.com.
