The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk archery program had a big weekend at the state tournament on the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines Saturday. In total between the elementary, middle school and high school levels the Golden Hawks sent 33 athletes to state last weekend. The Mid-Prairie high school archers finished 25th of 28 schools in the bullseye shoot with their score of 3163. Morgyn Nafziger led the Golden Hawks with a 283 that included 15 tens, finishing 26th in the girls individual standings. Zane Fisher was the top Golden Hawk boy with his score of 279 that included 13 tens to take 59th. The Golden Hawk high schoolers were 21st in the 3D shoot with their score of 1573. Zoe Fisher had the top girls day with a 269 that included 10 tens for 59th overall. Koby Karnes led the Mid-Prairie boys with a 267 that included 14 tens for 76th.
The Mid-Prairie middle school archers did not post a bullseye team score, but were led individually on the boys side by Elijah Statler with his 280 that included 14 tens, taking 15th overall. Lael Seale had the top girls mark with a 269 that included eight tens for 48th. In the middle school 3D contest, the Golden Hawks finished sixth in the state with a 1588. Statler and Seale were the top shooters here as well, both finishing fifth in the state. Statler with a 282 that included 13 tens and Seale a 276 that included 16 tens.
Mid-Prairie elementary shooters were led on the bullseye side by Gavin Luers with a 266 including nine tens to finish 15th in the boys standings. Mya Brenneman had the top elementary girls day with a 256 that included four tens. In the 3D contest Preston Ford finished as boys state runner-up with a 270 that included 12 tens.
