Longtime Mid-Prairie Superintendent Mark Schneider announced Friday his retirement from the district effective June 30th, 2022. Schneider writes,“I always tried to base my decisions on what was best for the Mid-Prairie School District and its students. With the defeat of the recent bond referendum, coupled with the Mid-Prairie graduation of my two granddaughters in May and my 65th birthday in June, it is clear to me that after 21 years, the time is right for new blood and a fresh perspective in the superintendent’s office.”
Schneider’s first day as superintendent was July 2nd, 2001. He replaced previous superintendent Dr. Gordon Cook. He has served the district as a teacher, principal and superintendent since 1988 and spent 41 years in total as an educator between Mid-Prairie, Keota and Muscatine.
