Wardrobe changes could be coming for students in the Highland School District. Current Highland class treasurers, senior Carsen Mellinger and junior Kate Hartzler presented a list of updates to the board at a February meeting, the first possible changes to the district dress code in more than 15 years. The list was born from a review of the current code by the student council. The proposals included allowing headwear like baseball caps and stocking caps, thinner spaghetti straps and midriff. After the students presented their topics, the board held discussion and added subjects like sports bras, skirt and short length, see-through clothing, bare feet and use of the word nipple in the code. Any possible dress code amendments were tabled and could be revisited for a vote at the March 14th meeting.
