Mid-Prairie forward Carter Harmsen was selected as an All-State performer by the Iowa Print Sports Writer’s Association. Harmsen, a senior, is a second team class 2A All-State pick by the writers this year. He was a third team selection as a junior. He led the Golden Hawks and finished seventh in class 2A scoring 20 points per game. His eight rebounds per night were also best on the team and fifth in 2A. He scored 491 total points this year, shooting 52% from the floor and 35% from three point range, finishing with 205 rebounds, 52 assists, 45 steals and 25 blocked shots. Harmsen ranks third on Mid-Prairie’s all-time scoring list with 1,182 points, trailing only second place Randy Jirsa and the program’s all-time leading scorer Travis Kern. The Golden Hawks completed the school’s first unbeaten regular season since 1991 this year, setting a school record with 24 straight wins and made the state tournament for the first time since 2010. The Hawks wrapped up the season at 24-1 in the class 2A state quarterfinals.
