A seventeen-year-old charged with attempted murder and robbery is being moved from juvenile detention to the Washington County Jail.

The Washington County Communications Center states Jaden Zavier Miller of Columbus Junction was transported to the jail Tuesday. Miller faces two class B felony charges from a January 7th Washington incident in which he and 20-year-old Mya Eden Wright of Iowa City allegedly attempted to commit a robbery and Miller shot the victim in the torso. Court records show that while being held at the Central Iowa Juvenile Detention Center in Eldora for these charges Miller has committed acts of criminal mischief and his physical and mental maturity do not make him appropriate for juvenile detention. Miller and his defense counsel agreed for him to be held in a private cell out of sight or sound of adult inmates at the county jail. He turns 18 this April. He’s also currently charged with willful injury causing serious injury, a class C felony, for an October 2, 2021 incident, as well as assault causing bodily injury or mental illness, a serious misdemeanor, for a May 2, 2021 incident. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
