The kings of the Southeast Conference in 2022 had plenty of representation on all conference teams with five Washington boys’ basketball players receiving postseason recognition. 

The Demons had the guard duo of Ethan Patterson and Kasen Bailey receive first team accolades. Patterson finished fourth in class 3A with 69 three pointers made at a 34% clip and his 89% free throw efficiency led the conference. The junior paced the team with 16.1 points a game, hauled in 3.4 rebounds a night, and managed 51 assists. He has led the orange and black in scoring each of the last three seasons and with one year left, Patterson is just 70 points shy of 1,000 for his career. Bailey capped off a four-year varsity run with a third team all state selection to go along with this conference award. The 6’2’’ guard poured in 15.2 points a night, shot an impressive 43% from deep while connecting on 48 of them, dished out a league best 105 assists, and forced 15 blocks. He finished with 858 career points and 202 assists. 

Lucas Kroll was a second team all conference selection. The 6’3’’ forward made life difficult for opponents by regularly locking down their best interior player and the senior had the third most rebounds with 202. He collected 8.8 boards a game, 10.3 points, shot 50% from the floor, and recorded 38 assists. Lance Sobaski and Travis Leyden rounded out the selections being named honorable mention. Sobaski did a lot of the dirty work inside collecting a team-best 69 offensive rebounds while bringing in 7.8 total boards a game. The senior averaged eights points a contest, had 12 blocks, and 31 assists. Leyden was the defensive energizer by leading the squad with 28 steals, he averaged 6.3 points, and totaled 30 assists. 

Additionally, the Demons showed out in the classroom as well with 14 being named academic all conference including Patterson, Bailey, Kroll, Leyden, Sobaski, Drew Horak, Aden Six, Ajay Six, Avery Six, Colin Tanner, Evan VanDerMolen, Isaac Vetter, John Prochaska, and Grant Sobaski. 

Washington capped off the season 19-4 and snatched their third straight conference crown.
