waco-2

A 20-win season and a sub-state final berth translated to four players receiving postseason recognition for the WACO boys’ basketball team, as they were named all conference by the Southeast Iowa Super Conference.

Hunter Hughes had the high honor of first team distinction in the south division. The sophomore finished fourth in the league in three pointers made with 40, fourth in steals with 72, and fifth in assists with 83. He paced the balanced Warrior attack with 11.9 points a game, hauled in 4.8 rebounds a contest, shot 44% from the floor, and tallied 15 blocks. Simeon Reichenbach was a second team selection. The junior guard was second on the team with a 9.7 point average, hauled in the most rebounds with 5.6 a night, dished out 69 assists, and created 61 steals. Cody Graber and Colton Leichty were honorable mention selections. It was swat city down low for Cody Graber with his league best 76 blocks including three a game. He averaged 4.7 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 51% from the floor. Leichty collected eight points a game, 5.3 boards, 50 total assists, and 42 steals.

Additionally, head coach Paul Kissell was named coach of the year in the south for their 14 win turnaround from last winter. WACO finished the season 20-5 and bring back the four all conference selections next year.
