The Kalona City Council set a public hearing to discuss changes to their voting precinct recommended by two other governing bodies. The Secretary of State’s Office and Washington County Board of Supervisors directed the city of Kalona to make changes to their precinct to include newly acquired property from the former Shiloh compound. This changes the southern boundary to 140th street and the eastern boundary to Quince Avenue. Even with these changes the population residing in the precinct remains below 3,500 per state law. It also does not affect anyone currently holding office.

The hearing will be part of the council’s meeting at 7p.m. Monday, March 21st.
