
The postseason awards kept piling in for five area class 1A girls’ basketball players being named all district in the 2021-22 season by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.
Five of the 10 players on the class 1A Southeast Iowa team were area participants and the coach of the year was Winfield-Mt. Union’s Mitch Wachs. The 30-year head coach led the Wolves to a 19-5 campaign and has compiled a 412-288 career record. Three of his players were on the all district team including senior Jobey Malone and juniors Bradie Buffington and Keetyn Townsley. Highland’s Abbi Stransky was selected as a junior and Sigourney sophomore Carly Goodwin was also on the list.
These honors followed all conference distinction for each of these players.
